Founded in 1960, the festival is held annually in Thessaloniki, Greece, typically in November. Over the years, TIFF has evolved from a national showcase into an internationally recognized event that attracts filmmakers, industry professionals, and cinema enthusiasts from around the world.
Today, its primary aim is to bring quality, thought provoking films to Greece, to promote emerging talent with an alternative view, and provide an international springboard for Greek cinema. It is an event brim with happenings, Masterclasses, panel discussions, exhibits and parties, A true cultural celebration, set in the backdrop of Thessaloniki, a vibrant city whose spirit is at a crossroads between East and West.
The proposed visual identity takes root in the ethos to celebrate the art of cinema by showcasing innovative and diverse films, supporting emerging filmmakers, and fostering dialogue between cultures, while creating a vibrant space for audiences and industry professionals to connect and collaborate. The chosen visuals include illustrations in vibrant colors and patterns which are themed around the experience of the Film festival with the backdrop of the city of Thessaloniki. The festival is an acutely sensorial experience, both in terms of emotions but also as an encounter with the liveliness of the city.
